Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education at New Mills Primary School provides children with the knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence they need to lead healthy, fulfilling, safe and responsible lives.
Our PSHE curriculum is relational, emotionally informed and inclusive. It recognises that every child benefits from learning to understand themselves, build positive relationships, manage emotions, overcome challenges and make thoughtful, informed decisions.
Philosophy for Children (P4C) approaches are an important part of our PSHE provision. Through structured dialogue, enquiry and reflection, children learn to express their ideas confidently, listen respectfully, consider different viewpoints and develop shared understanding of complex social and emotional issues.
Our curriculum meets the statutory requirements for Relationships Education and Health Education and is supported by relevant teaching within the Early Years Foundation Stage, National Curriculum Science and computing. Any additional primary sex education is addressed separately within the policy.
