School Meals

School meals are provided by Derbyshire County Council and are cooked on our premises by our School Catering Team. Please view the Derbyshire County Council website for details of the menu.

If you prefer, your child may bring sandwiches to school but please do not send sweets or glass bottles. We teach the children the importance of healthy eating and trust that you will support us in this by providing your child with a healthy lunch box.

The charge for school meals for Key Stage 2 children is £2.10 per day and this can be paid online using the ParentPay web site. Parents will be given a log in for this through school. Children in Key Stage 1 and Reception are entitled to a free school meal currently funded by the Government under the Universal Free School Meal funding.

Children from families with a low income may be eligible for free school meals and Pupil Premium funding. Even if your child is in Key Stage 1 or Reception and you do not pay for their meals, by applying for free school meals then your children can benefit from Pupil Premium money paid to the school by the Government to help improve the education of children from low income families.

You can check if you qualify or apply for free school meals online, by telephoning 01629 536400, or by contacting the school office staff who will be pleased to help you.

Children in Key Stage 1 and Reception will receive a piece of fruit every morning break time; this is provided free of charge. If your child is in Key Stage 2 and you wish them to have a piece of fruit, you may send them with a piece each day which they may eat at break time. Or you can join the KS2 fruit scheme which is 70p per week and is payable in advance termly to the school office. Other than a piece of fruit for children in Key Stage 2, parents are asked not to send snacks into school.

Reception Pupils also have the opportunity to have a drink of milk during the morning, and details of this are given out at the welcome parents meeting the term before your child starts school. Milk is provided free of charge for pupils under the age of 5 and is paid for by the school if your child reaches 5 in Reception class.

We also encourage everyone in school to have a water bottle. These can be purchased from the school office for £1.50.
